Creative Direction

Creative Direction for E-Commerce Brands

With creative direction, we work with you to define how your ads look, what they should trigger in your audience and which rules new variants follow. You get a direction every future creative can be measured against.

It's the step before production. Skip it and you often end up with lots of creatives that barely differ, and after the test you can't say why one performed better.

What exactly do you get?

Creative analysis

We review your existing creatives and show which ones carry and where the potential lies.

Visual guardrails

Light, color world, framing and product staging, captured as rules for every new creative.

Creative lines and hooks

Several clearly distinct directions with openings that fit your audience.

Prioritised test ideas

What you test first and how you can tell whether it holds up.

All of this comes bundled in the Creative Roadmap. Go to the Creative Roadmap

Why does e-commerce need its own creative direction?

Paid social creatives wear out faster than classic campaign creatives. Your direction has to be built from the start to carry a steady flow of new variants without your brand looking different in every ad.

Whether someone stops in the feed is decided by the first frame. That's why, with us, aesthetics come up front and the system sits behind it.

How it works

  1. 01

    Understand

We frame your brand, product, audience and existing creatives.

  2. 02

    Sharpen

We test product benefit, offer, audience and how strongly your product can be staged visually.

  3. 03

    Shape

We develop creative directions, hooks and visual guardrails.

  4. 04

    Create

We produce visuals and ad ideas, AI-assisted and design-led.

  5. 05

    Learn

We evaluate what the tests show and make the next round more precise.

Testable

What does testable mean?

A variant is testable when it differs from the others in exactly one point: hook, first frame, claim or format. That way, after the test you can see which decision made the difference. Change three things at once and it stays unclear what caused it.

Who's behind it?

Eik Hentschke leads creative direction at vanillasalt. He comes from more than a decade of professional photo production, including over 150 international automotive advertising campaigns, and ran the agency Punctum Fotografie GmbH for two years. From that work, he knows where AI saves time in production and where a real shoot is still the better choice.

Where the limits are

Media buying

We don't run your campaigns in the ad account ourselves. That's handled by your media buyer or through partners.

Guarantees

We don't promise performance numbers. They also depend on product, price, shop and tracking.

Is this a fit for you?

Creative direction at vanillasalt fits if you sell physical products with visual strength, run or are preparing paid social and regularly need fresh creative impulses. If you only need a single, cheap video, a classic production is the better choice for you.

Aesthetics up front. System behind it.

In the Creative Clarity Call we spend 20 to 30 minutes looking at your brand, your product and your current ads. Afterwards you'll know whether a Creative Roadmap is the right next step.
